As this post is published I will either be participating in group games, arts and crafting, or sitting in self esteem class. And I could not be more excited.
Last week was one heck of a week at work. I put in a bit over 50 hours actually in the office, and far too many more hours thinking about work. Needless to say, it was quite a stressful week. Add on top of that the fact that I will be out for an entire week, and… well, suffice it to say that I felt a bit of pressure to get alot done in a short amount of time.
The best part about it is the fact that this week, I am at camp. And I have ONE purpose: make a child’s life awesome… if only for one week. I will be serving as a Camp Horizon counselor at the Camp Twin Lakes facility in Rutledge, GA. We will fish, shoot archery, swim, do yoga, play mini golf, and whatever else my camper wants to do. And I’m going to love it.
It is my utmost hope that Camp Horizon will become an annual event that I can hardly live without. I look forward to letting you know how it goes and what it was like to spend a week catering to a child and developing a one on one relationship.
In the mean time, I would love to hear about your favorite service activities. Have you found something you love that helps others at the same time? Are you looking? What is the most rewarding experience you’ve ever had while serving others?
