On a completely related note to my first post of the morning:
I was on a MARTA train coming home from the airport a few weeks back, and I heard two women talking about books… and their irrelevance. They were hypothesizing that books will become obsolete and e-readers will take over the reading world. It took everything I had not to butt into their conversation, but I minded my manners and kept to myself. So here is my displaced interjection:
Books will never be obsolete. Books are the hidden treasures of the world and they are the written history of human thinking. They have educated and spread ideas forever, and they are not to be replaced by e-readers, but simply supplemented. This is all my opinion of course. And if yours differs, please, do give me your hard-copy books if you decide to go exclusively to digital. I plan on having an extensive library in my dream home one day.
